On the morning of March 16, 1978, the day the new government led by Giulio Andreotti was about to be presented in Parliament to gain the trust, the car with Aldo Moro was intercepted and blocked by an armed nucleus of the Red Brigades.
The Red Brigades killed Moro’ s bodyguards and kidnapped him. After an imprisonment of 55 days Moro was killed. His body was found in Rome on May 9, in the trunk of a car near the national headquarters of the Italian Communist Party and that of the Christian Democrats.
The causes of the kidnapping are not clear yet, despite several processes and many investigations conducted at international level.
